The local government of Alajuela city, Costa Rica, invites to the II edition of: Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez “Alajuela 2006”, approved by the Costa Rican Chess Federation and FIDE.

Dates:  July 11-16, 2006.

Main Tournament: Open.

Junior: Born on January 1st , 1992 or younger.

Place: Polideportivo Monserrat, Cantón Central de Alajuela, 1,5 miles from Juan Santamaría International Airport
(10 miles from downtown San José-Costa Rica).

System: Swiss, 9 rounds.

Time control: 90min + 30 sec per move

Tie Break: Progressive, prizes won’t be shared.  If a player wins more than one prize, he/she will receive only the highest.

  • US$40 foreign players
  • 15.000 colones local player (special offers for early inscriptions apply).
  • International Masters and Grand Masters, Free.

Junior:

  • US$30 foreign players
  • 8.000 colones local player (special offers for early inscriptions apply).

Hotel and meals:       

  • Grand Masters, free.
  • Foreign IM´s, free hotel..
  • Special packages available for all players.

Notice: there’s a limited quantity of packages, therefore, they will be assigned in “first to come first to serve” basis.
